A 15-member Pakistani cultural troupe will take part in the 7th Asia Arts Festival, scheduled to take place in Chinese city Foshan, Guangdong province on Friday. The festival coincides with Cultural Asia Ministerial Forum, the first ministerial-level meeting in the cultural field ever hosted in China.

Pakistani troupe is led by Director General, National Council of Arts, Naeem Tahir and also includes renowned singer Arif Lohar.

According to Meng Xiaosi, Chinese Vice Minister of Culture, the cultural ministers and senior officials from 20 Asian countries would attend the forum.

The sources told APP that during the forum, cultural ministers and the officials would discuss maintaining and developing Asian art and cultural traditions. A "Foshan Declaration" would be issued to call for joint efforts for arts development by all Asian countries.

In the meantime, artistic performances and exhibitions would display diversified culture of respective Asian countries. About 500 artists from various countries would cover a wide-range of subjects, including ballet, traditional operas and classical songs.

This year's festival is the first regional arts gala held by the Chinese government. Ninety-seven artistic troupes from 22 Asian countries have so far attended the previous festivals. The Asia Arts Festival was founded in 1998.
